Supporting Pupils with Disabilities
At Horrington Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with disabilities, are treated fairly and have equal access to all areas of school life.
In line with the Equality Act 2010, we actively take steps to ensure that pupils with disabilities are not treated less favourably than others. These steps include:
- Adapting the curriculum and learning environment to meet the needs of pupils with disabilities.
- Providing appropriate support and resources, including the use of assistive technology and specialist equipment where necessary.
- Delivering staff training to increase awareness and understanding of a range of disabilities and inclusive teaching practices.
- Working closely with families and external agencies to plan and review provision for pupils with disabilities.
- Ensuring accessibility of our school buildings and facilities, including ramps, accessible toilets, and clear signage.
- Promoting a culture of inclusion and respect, where every child is valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential.
Our aim is to remove barriers to learning and participation so that all pupils can enjoy and benefit from a rich, inclusive education.
